Osei Appointed Associate Dean for Medical Education Quality and Compliance at UCR SOM

Adwoa Osei, MD, FAAP, has been named the associate dean for medical education quality and compliance at the UC Riverside School of Medicine. Her appointment begins on July 1, 2025.

"Dr. Osei has been an integral part of our School of Medicine for years, shaping our curriculum, mentoring students, and leading efforts to advance health equity,” said Deborah Deas, MD, MPH, the vice chancellor of health sciences and the Mark and Pam Rubin dean of the UCR SOM. “Her dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this role. I look forward to seeing her continue to enhance our medical education programs and support the success of our students and faculty."

In her new role, Osei will direct the Office of Medical Education Quality and Compliance and will be responsible for the continuous quality improvement process of the medical education program. She will also lead key aspects of the accreditation process with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.

Osei is a health science associate professor of pediatrics with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She joined the UCR SOM faculty and UCR Health in 2018. She is the founding program director for the School of Medicine’s Program in Medical Education - African, Black and Caribbean (PRIME-ABC). Since 2019 she has served as the founding director of the pediatric clerkship at the UCR SOM, and since 2020 she has directed the school’s Health Equity, Social Justice, and Anti-Racism curriculum.

Osei received her degree from the University of Ghana Medical School and completed her residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Michigan State University’s Hurley Medical Center. She has completed fellowships in neurodevelopmental disabilities (UCLA) and primary care psychiatry (UC Irvine) as well as the Harvard Macy Institute’s Program for Educators in Health Professions. She is a Harvard Macy faculty member and serves on the expert leadership team for the National Center for Relational Health and Trauma-Informed Care and the AAP Pediatric Mental Health Care Access (PMHCA) Technical Assistance (TA) Program.
