Dear SOM Community,
On July 7, 2026, I received communication from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the accrediting body for medical schools, informing me that our recent progress report was reviewed by the LCME Board on June 16–17, 2026. I am pleased to inform you that the UCR School of Medicine received “Compliance” status with all 12 standards and “Satisfactory” status with all elements. They emphasized that no follow-up is warranted and our next full survey visit will be conducted during the 2029–2030 academic year.
This was no small feat, and these excellent results are attributed to the hard work of many individuals, including our UME and Student Affairs leaders, SOM leadership, block and thread directors, teaching faculty, LCME subcommittee members and chairs, and our medical students. I thank Dr. Pablo Joo, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and LCME Lead, for his leadership, as well as the LCME Executive Committee and all of you for playing a significant role in our success. During this process, you epitomized what it means to “go far together,” and when we do, we excel.
With Gratitude,
