Dr. Javier Sanchez is a bilingual family medicine doctor at Kaiser Permanente in Redlands and an assistant clinical professor at the UCR School of Medicine since early 2015. Over that time he has mentored numerous clerkship and LACE students.

Sanchez has been described by students as an empathetic physician who is committed to the health of every patient that he sees. Students are inspired by his ability to adapt to every case flawlessly, allocating the time needed for more complicated situations while always including an educational component to each visit and truly building a partnership with his patients.

One student commented, "I really enjoyed working with him as he allows us the time to get to know his patients and offers guidance on how to improve my clinical approach to patient cases. It helps us work towards being a proficient practitioner."

Sanchez participated in the inaugural cohort of the UCR SOM Office of Faculty Development's Teaching Excellence Academy . His teaching innovation project, was titled an "Innovative Approach to Asthma Screening and Training for Students Interested in Outreach in Underserved Populations of Southern California." He presented this project at the Conference on Teaching, Learning and Discovery in 2019 with Jennifer Zamora, M.D. and Masoumeh Ghaffari, M.D.

Sanchez said he is honored that members have entrusted him with their care and he strives to treat his patients as he would his own family. He feels that healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay healthy. He firmly believes in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of health in body, mind, and spirit and tries to live it in his life every day by running, biking and swimming. He has taken part in the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon and the Los Angeles Marathon.
