Rosanna Jhawar, MD, has been appointed associate dean for clinical skills education and innovation at the UC Riverside School of Medicine, effective August 1, 2026.
“I am very pleased to have Dr. Rosanna Jhawar step into this leadership role,” said Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and the Mark and Pam Rubin Dean of the School of Medicine Deborah Deas, MD, MPH. “Dr. Jhawar has demonstrated a strong commitment to our students and to continually strengthening how we prepare them for clinical practice. Her experience and leadership within our medical education program make her well positioned to advance this important area of our curriculum.”
As associate dean for clinical skills education and innovation, Jhawar will provide academic oversight of UCR SOM’s integrated doctoring curriculum, which encompasses doctoring, clinical skills, and case-based learning. The curriculum also serves as an important platform for integrating clinical reasoning, health systems science, evidence-based medicine, professional identity formation, and other concepts across the medical education program.

I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place while continuing to innovate and ensure our students develop the clinical skills, confidence, compassion, and professional identity they need to become exceptional physicians and serve the diverse communities of Inland Southern California.”
Jhawar will also oversee the standardized patient program and provide leadership for the educational and operational activities of the Center for Simulated Patient Care. She will work collaboratively with medical education leadership, course and module directors, clerkship directors, faculty, staff, and students to strengthen integration across the curriculum and continuously evaluate and improve clinical skills education.
Jhawar has played a significant role in UCR SOM medical education for several years. She has served as director of doctoring and case-based learning and, most recently, as interim executive director of integrated doctoring. In these roles, she has helped develop and integrate educational experiences designed to build students’ clinical skills and prepare them for increasingly complex patient care responsibilities.
Her commitment to medical education has also been recognized by the School of Medicine. In 2023, Jhawar received the Outstanding Doctoring Instructor Award as part of UCR SOM’s annual faculty, staff, and student awards.
